From Andy and Mary Lewis:

I am contacting everyone that I think would be interested in helping me with this project.

My goal is to raise enough money (50,000 dollars) to start a perpetual scholarship that will honor the memory of Bobby and Kevin Bianchi.  The scholarship will be managed by the Wings Over America scholarship committee and awarded annually to a deserving young man or woman.

Lieutenant Robert “Bobby” Bianchi was a 1983 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a helicopter pilot in the Naval Air Force.  He was killed in the Philippines in 1987.

Commander Kevin “Block” Bianchi, a 1985 Naval Academy graduate, served as a helicopter pilot for nineteen years and deployed on numerous occasions throughout the world.  When he was killed in July of 2004, he was the Executive Officer of a squadron and was scheduled to assume command in November of that year.

Kevin and Bobby personified all of the good things in Naval Aviation.  They were hard working, fun loving, selfless leaders, family men, and patriots.

The scholarship is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. The organization sponsors scholarships for dependents of Naval avaiators with at least 8 years of service.

Please contact me if you would like additional information or to make a donation in the name of the Bianchi’s.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mary Lewis  (lewisfam6@sbcglobal.net)
