1985 Class Reunion

General Information

We have nearly finalized all the plans for our reunion weekend from 9-11 September, 2005. We are happy to announce the weekend events look great and will surely be a huge hit with all who attend. Our Friday night reception will be at the new stadium banquet facility (both levels) and will include an entire evening of great food (hors d’oevres, serving stations and a dessert buffet with open seating), unlimited bar, and some surprise entertainment. With  a Saturday evening football game (kickoff for approx 1830), it will leave plenty of time Saturday for sleeping in a little, mid store shopping or just walking around the town.

The Tailgate party will begin at 1400 and go until after the game. We are planning an entire “campus” approach to the tailgate complete with a kids entertainment area, flat screen TV’s and satellite music, luxury portable bathrooms, and a full selection of great food and beverages. The tailgate will be a great time followed by an exciting football game.

The remainder of the weekend will include a Class Memorial service at the chapel at 1500 on Friday, a formal parade at 1600, additional events such as golf and Sunday brunch will all be made available. There will be plenty of free time for company events to be planned by yourselves.

In the next week or so, we will send you an email to announce the new class website with registration information. The new class site will consist of a non-secure area that will contain class news, reunion info, class apparel (both reunion and everyday apparel), and links to all the important Alumni or NAAA sites. We will have a secure area where classmates can register; post updated personal and family information, a class chat room area, areas for employment networking and whatever other valuable content we can provide.

Once you visit the new website, you will see the entire reunion schedule of events and all pertinent information from hotels, event costs and sign up instructions. You will be directed to a USNA Alumni secure site to actually register for events and pay your requisite fees for the reception, the tailgate, and for overall registration, etc. They will collect money for us and direct it to our class operating account. Event prices will be spelled out on both the class website and on the Alumni website as well. Keep in mind, there will be a registration fee to cover your attendance that weekend for such things as bus transportation, “goodie” bags, name tags, administrative costs, etc. A portion of proceeds from all events will go to fund our class operating budget for the next five years so we can continue provide our class with the high level of service you have come to expect. We will also be advertising in the coming editions of Shipmate in case you miss the other information. As always, you can provide feedback and suggestions to us. We ask that you wait until we release all the information before you send any inquiries.

We have tried to cover all bases and have used information and feedback from previous class reunion organizers and the Alumni Association, as well as our own creativity, to put on a truly CLASS event at a reasonable cost. We assume that those of you looking forward to our 20th Reunion would expect nothing less than a truly class event we will remember for the next five years or longer. That is how your class officers have approached planning this event and we hope it shows in September. We look forward to a record breaking turnout in September and can’t wait to see everyone.

Sincerely,

Bob Smith, Matt Schatzle, Bryan Caisse, Dave McDonnell, Tim Kane    Class of 1985 Officers
